An (Almost) Completely Unbiased Guide to Choosing a Wedding Photographer.

Recommendation is by far the best way to find a wedding photographer but if you don't know anyone who's used QPC, here are some tips and tricks for finding the best photographer for you.
The phone book is where most people start looking but not all the photographers listed are actually professionals. If you do want a professional photographer, here's how to spot a cowboy.

If possible find an old Yellow Pages (you knew it would come in handy one day!) A photographer with a good reputation should be well established, so check to see if the company you arethinking of calling was in business last year. ( We can remember when this was all just fields!)
Always phone to enquire about the services provided during the day.
If you always get an answer phone the person you are calling is probably at their day job.

Obviously anyone working from a shop (like QPC) is a professional.
So watch out for companies with a residential address and be very wary of people who insist on coming to see you. They don't even want you to know where they live!

Look for a professional trade association member. Many photographers sport trade association logos on their letter heads and adverts but ONLY the Master Photographers Association (MPA) and the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP) have a strict professionals only policy. And only the MPA actually vets candidates by setting a entry qualification test. (guess which one QPC belongs to)
